15 person pyramid.
GAT, which
stands for gymnastics, acrobatics and something I can’t remember, is a subject
we have every Friday from 9.00 ‘til 10.50. And I’m quite sure I speak for the
majority of my classmates when I say we have a bit of mixed feelings for this
two hour long lesson:
At one
hand, it’s extremely exciting, as we learn cartwheels, summersaults and other gymnastic
moves that make you look cool. This is also what we do for the majority of the
lesson. However, at the end, during the last half hour or so, we do circuit
training and there is no mercy to be had from the teacher. Last Friday, which
was our first meeting with GAT, three people threw up. This time no one did,
and the training is certainly important, no doubt about that.
But that is
not really what I wanted to talk about. Yesterday, Friday the 19th
of October, we had our first go at making pyramids. According to the teacher,
the second years had tried building a 15 person pyramid in their first lesson
doing it, but had failed. Determined to beat our dear upper classmen, we got to
work, and on the second try we actually managed to build a 15 person pyramid
and hold it long enough for two pictures to be taken.
It is a
very taxing and difficult thing to do, and loud groans and calls of pain for me
to hurry up could be heard as I (who had the very important task of taking
pictures) lifted first one Iphone to take a picture and then another. When we
were done, the teacher said he honestly didn’t believe we’d be able to do it so
soon.
